In HA23, the secondary ossification center is at the left and the primary center is at the right. Bone is pink and cartilage is purple. Here the zones of growth plate are narrow but easily distinguished. The marrow in this bone is occupied by unilocular adipose tissue. It is often referred to as "yellow" marrow.
