HA10

Nerve10l
This LM shows a medium mag image of the ganglion cell bodies in the right panel of HA9. Similar to the center panel of HA7, a prominent axon hillock can be seen (at the right in this image) as a clear region of the cytoplasm at the side of a cell body. The axon hillock marks the region of the cytoplasm in which organelles are assembled to be sent into the axon. The cell bodies of these neurons are separated from the endoneurial connective tissue by satellite cells, the nuclei of which are visible around the perimeter of the neurons. The nucleoli in these nuclei are prominent because of the large number of ribosomes required for protein synthesis by these neurons.
