HA4

Ha04l
HA4 is a high magnification light micrograph (LM) of a spinal cord motor neuron. Using a histologic stain that binds only to nucleic acids allows one to see collections (Nissl bodies) of rough endoplasmic reticulum (RER) and polyribosomes, which are visible in this sample because they are in great abundance in this cell type. Motor neurons have large, euchromatic nuclei (n) with very large nucleoli (*). The small nuclei outside of the neuron are those of glial (support) cells.
