HA15: Penis - H & E

Male15l
The erectile tissue (HA15) is a network of endothelial lined blood spaces separated by connective tissue containing smooth muscle and elastic fibers. During an erection this tissue becomes engorged with blood, and because the tissue cannot expand due to the surrounding tunica albuginea it becomes rigid. The penile urethra (u) passes through the corpus spongiosum.
