HA21: Stomach, body, H&E

Digest21l
An orange-stained enteroendocrine cell is located deep in a gland among the chief cells (c; HA21 arrow). Only a small percentage of all the enteroendocrine cells stain differerently, using histological methods, from the surrounding cells in the base of the adenomere. There are many of these cells in the stomach and throughout the digestive tract. These cells secrete a variety of hormones that regulate the digestion and absorption of food as it passes through the gut. Parietal cells (pc) are seen to the right of the chief cells.
