The characteristic feature of this salivary gland is the large number of mucous acini. One end of the gland is entirely mucous (HA6, M). In the rest of the gland, mucous cells predominate over the serous (Epithelium HA18) A large interlobular duct (arrow) is located near the center of the gland.
