HA12: Trachea and primary bronchi, monkey
HA12 shows the respiratory epithelium in a bronchus at higher magnification. Note the hyaline cartilage supporting the epithelium and lamina propria. Primary bronchi have rings of cartilage to keep the airway patent. An arrow identifies the large clear Golgi region above the nucleus in one cell. The goblet cells can be identified by their lack of cilia, since this particular stain doesn't highlight them very well.
