HA11: Trachea and primary bronchi, monkey

The image in HA11 is a frontal section through the trachea (T), the carina (the point where the trachea divides) and the two primary bronchi. You can see the carinal lymph node (L) is located within the bifurcation of the trachea with a primary bronchus (B) on either side. Why is this an excellent location for a lymph node? This is part of the bronchial associated lymphatic tissue (BALT).
