HA14: Papillary muscle, tendon and valve

Cv14l
HA14 shows the top portion of papillary muscle attached to its tendon, the chorda tendineae within a ventricular lumen. The connective tissue of the tendon caps the tip of the papillary muscle (HA14). The muscle region is highly vascular, but the dense CT is poorly vascularized and has many fewer nuclei. The tendon branches to meet the valve leaflet.
