There are also Pacinian corpuscles (HA13 arrow) in the hypodermis, close to the bone. Pacinian corpuscles are mechanoreceptors that sense vibration. They look like sliced onions,because each corpuscle has 20 to 60 concentric lamellae separated by gelatinous material. The lamellae are very thin, flat, modified Schwann cells
