HA27

Ha27oa
Lysosomes with a more common morphology (shape) are found in the adrenal cortex (HA27). As in other cells, they are often close to the Golgi Complex where they originate, but can be moved to wherever they are needed. At first glance, they appear similar to mitochondria. But the lysosomes have much denser, uniform contents (primary lysosomes, 1) and some contain dark material (secondary lysosomes, 2). The darker stain is cellular material that is being broken down to components that can be either reused by the cell or discarded when the cell divides. Mitochondria have two distinct membranes around them, and membrane infoldings called cristae.
