HA13 is a low magnification image of the cranial suture. Collagen fibers reach across the gap from one plate of bone to the other to hold the two together. The suture remains uncalcified until the brain is fully developed. The nuclei in the suture are fibroblasts, synthesizing and maintaining collagen type I fibers.
