HA30

Liver30o

Islets of Langerhans are present in this image (HA30), but are difficult to distinguish from the exocrine acini. Look for clusters of reddish cells that lack the distinctive polarity (dark blue base and pink apical cytoplasm) of the acini, and have increased numbers of capillaries (clear spaces). In HA30 there are two islets in the middle of the image, separated by acini. Although there are A, B, and D cells in these islets, they are indistinguishable with this routine histological stains.
