In this low magnification image, note the green capsule (HA22, c) and trabeculae (t) made predominantly of collagen I. Between these structural supports, the red pulp (r) takes its name from the abundant RBCs flowing through this region. The white pulp (w) has a pale, gray appearance, which is caused by the dense collections of small lymphocytes clustered around central arteries.
