HA2

Immune02o
In HA2, some of the RBCs stain quite homogeneously, while others show a pale center, due to the concavity of their shape. Other than that, they are unremarkable in the normal smear. By far, the most numerous leukocytes are the neutrophils (HA2). The granules (lysosomes) are small, pale staining and difficult to see in this micrograph, and the nucleus is segmented. There may be as few as three, and as many as five segments. Each nuclear segment is quite irregular in shape, and this is the most diagnostic feature. Neutrophils are also called PMNs, Polys, and Segs in Pathology.
