Home -> Unit 1 -> Epithelium
HA7 shows two LMs of epithelia that line the digestive system. All arrows point to dividing cells, which are in metaphase or anaphase stages of mitosis. Cell division occurs during normal epithelial turnover to replace the epithelium in 1-2 weeks. The appearance of mitotic cells is that the nuclear membrane has broken down and darkly stained, condensed chromosomes are present above the adjacent basal layer of nuclei. C=crypt, L=lumen.
