Like the female urethra, the epithelium of the male urethra goes through a transition. It leaves the urinary bladder lined by urothelium and terminates with nonkeratinized, stratified squamous epithelium at the orifice. In this section, it is lined by stratified columnar epithelium (HA19). Like most epithelia, small lymphocytes (arrows) can be seen occasionally in between the epithelial cells.
