The low magnification image, HA13, illustrates several important features of the adrenal gland. At the outer edge of the section the gland is surrounded by unilocular and multilocular fat. The gland is wrapped by a thick capsule that contains numerous small blood vessels. The cortex and medulla are demarcated well (C & M). The arrow indicates a vein leaving the medulla.
